Gilera 150 Static Timing

Post by DMess » Wed Nov 16, 2022 9:28 am

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and Gileras. I have myself a Gilera 150 Turismo 1952 which hasnt run for sometime, imported as very nearly completed project.

Having establishing TDC (more complicated that it should be) I'm at the stage to get the engine running but am unable to find a definative answer to where the static timing should be, elsewere on the forum I've found between 3-5 degs BTDC, on the internet I've found 20 Degs (all be it a later model bike) and another that says 12 Degs.

Any help is greatly appreciated *thumb*

Hi Dave,

According to the manual it should be 10-12 degrees BTDC for the 1st series GIlera 150 Sport and Turismo.
You can find the manual at https://www.rpw.it/Documentazione.htm
Look for G-150 Sport e Turismo - Uso e manutenzione

Good luck!

Thank you, I have the manual, but dont know any italian so resort to slowly translating bits on google that I think might be relevant. Now you've pointed me in the right direction I've learnt 'Anticipo fisso' page 14 :D

Thanks again,

Dave

Re: Gilera 150 Static Timing - oil

Ok, I've found in the manual the engine oil capacity is 1.5kg / 1.5L but struggling on grade of oil. I assume mineral oil is best does any one have any recommendations? or know the oil grade?
