I also warmed the sight glass up in boiling water before installing.
Not sure if this helped with the brittle nature.

Re: 1988 Saturno Oil Level Sight Glass
Mike, you need to phone Bob Wright - emails don't work:).
I have bought 2 oil level sight glasses from him 2021. The first one cracked on installation.
I was very careful with the second and it has been fine.
Better if you can get an anodised one though......

Re: Saturno rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit
I did learn something which is apparently common on a few other motorbikes as well. Where brake calipers are lying horizontally similar the Saturno, and if you get alot of air into the system (like replacing cylinder etc) air will get trapped in the calipers which will not be removed through normal b...

Re: Saturno rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit
Finally got the new cylinder. Then the hydraulic switch needed replacing as the original was too long. The incorrect switch was sent, but Stein Dinse quickly sent the correct one. The cylinder is not exactly the same, so still needs some adjustment. Good enough for a nice ride in the warming weather...

IOM Saturno fairing rubbing on radiator
Hi there, My IOM Saturno 500 front fairing is rubbing against the side of the radiator (circled in image below). Is there supposed to be something screwed into the thread (arrow)? I can't find anything in the manual. One option might be to install a rubber stop in this thread which will push the fai...

Saturno rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit
I'm having problems with the rear brake on the Saturno 500 IOM. I have bled it a few times, but it won't bleed properly. Pressure can be gained by a few small pumps on the lever and it is fine, but if left for 2 weeks it needs pumping again to get pressure. Yesterday the piston jammed fully in. That...

Snow White is very pretty
GBM is the Sticker/decal that people from the Isle of Man put on their vehicles when travelling overseas? Like "D" for Germany.

Re: New Saturno 500 IOM owner
That is a nice red one you have over in WA. Good that there are a few more in the country. Yes,HP, the front fairing is different and the screen is a different shape too as it curves over the light as you can see below: https://i.ibb.co/zHgz1zt/saturno-screen-1.jpg https://i.ibb.co/Bn2nb7y/saturno-b...

"water temperature absolutely perfect as long as you are in the green range with 1 mm spare to the end."
That is good to know. I didn't use the bleed nut on the cylinder head so will refill using that.

Re: New Saturno 500 IOM owner
The first proper road ride went well. It was a cold early morning with a ride of about 100km around the north of Tasmania. Stopped at Lilydale for a warm up drink. https://i.ibb.co/TmmP5Tf/saturno-lilydale.jpg The temp was running high on the gauge. Is this normal, or something to worry about? It wa...

Re: New Saturno 500 IOM owner
Yes Mike, I saw your very good video. I took it out for a short ride on the weekend. The pipes didn't seem too loud but will see how it goes on the longer runs. I have the baffles if I need them. The rubber bush has been glued which seems to have worked ok. I will still try and replace it if I can. ...
