RC 600 Airbox problem

Hello everybody!

First time on this Gilera forum, I own an RC 600; I hope somebody can help me to solve a tecnical empasse: I think my RC airbox is not any more as manufacturer made it: may be some preceeding owner of this bike applied a few changes to the airbox (or it has become corrupted anyway) so that now a part of motor oil (originally intended to get the air filter wet) reaches the carburettor, wasting the right engine fuel alimentation and making all the air intake dirthy. In this situation sometimes it's not possible to start the engine at all!...

Could you please send me any useful information about the original airbox internal structure and parts (except the filter itself), such as bulkheads, walls etc... my own airbox is internally open at all...

Thank you

Champo

If you need an original airbox of an RC 600, I have one (Trento). Ciao

Ciao Champo

Maybe it isn't the airbox. This problem could have the source in the piston rings. If the piston rings aren't OK the piston pumps the oil back in the airbox.

So maybe you check this before.

Tanti saluti

The problem could be syntetic oil - if it is too fluid or if you fill in too much it will be pressed into the air-box (on my Nordi).

Istn“t there a small sponge that stops too much oil from entering the airbox (thought so)?
